Silly Songs with Allison and Kelsey

giovedi, 9 giugno 2016

Well, hello there!
Today has been a bit of a rainy day, but that didn't dampen our spirits! We were able to visit churches in both of our classes, so that was great!

For our morning class, we went to the Basilica di San Clemente, a basilica built on top of an early Christian church, that was build on top of other ancient remains. We were able to go down to the other levels beneath the current church, so that was a cool experience!

We weren't allowed to take pictures inside

After visiting the church, we went outside to discover that it was raining quite hard. Unfortunately, we had a fifteen minute walk to the next site, the Caracalla Baths, so we were rather wet by the time we arrived. Luckily, we were able to keep ourselves quite entertained as we struggled to get the Barbara Manatee song from Veggie Tales out of our head. We ended up with an odd mashup of Barbara Manatee and Be Thou My Vision (not your typical song combo, but then again, we aren't exactly typical study abroad students). Also, at least we were able to take a nice shower while wandering around what remained of the baths thanks to the rain.

Once we finally made it back to our apartment and dried off a bit, we ate lunch and caught up on some blogging and homework. Then since we needed some money, we decided to put on our big girl pants (or in Kelsey's case, take off her belt in case she had to go through the metal detector.) We also needed smaller change for our afternoon class, so we broke a bill that way by buying ourselves a chocolate bar. It was basically Nutella in candy bar form. Wonderful!

The best candy bar

For our class, we went on a field trip to St. Paul's Outside the Walls, one of the four main papal basilicas in Rome and also where the tomb of St. Paul is located. It was a beautiful church and quite amazing to visit the tomb of a great saint like St. Paul.

  1. If you didn't buy the chocolate at St. Paul's, you should consider going back. It's the best chocolate I've ever had. :)
