The Vatican - Day 4

lunedi, 6 giugno 2016

Hola! (I'm tired of Italian so we're changing it up a bit.)
We had a very uneventful bus ride to class (for the first time ever), and then we tried not to fall asleep as our professor droned on about the 5 different forums built by blah blah blah blah..... anyway, Allison and went shopping during lunch and got the essentials: peach drink, nutella, and gelato, along with some treats: bread, milk, and eggs.

Fora

Much excite.

We got to go to the Vatican again for class, so that was exciting!! Our professor is just hysterical and kept telling off all the people who were either trying to cut or talking too loudly in sacred areas (and rightly so.) It was really nice to go there with someone who is extremely knowledgeable about the place. We got to see the Pieta and JPII's tomb, so that was way cool. Apparently you can climb the cupola (dome) for 5 euro, so we might have to find another day to go to the Vatican again.

After the Vatican, we went church hopping, per usual. We tried to find St. Michael's, but a few wrong turns later and we were nowhere near where we thought we wanted to be. However, the Lord provides, and He led us to Santa Spirito in Sassia right as mass was about to start. That was a pleasant surprise! We can't complain about getting lost now! We never made it to St. Michael's, but I'm sure you'll be hearing about it another day.

Allison and I decided to go out to eat after mass, so we tried a place suggested to us by our friend, Crystal: Carlo Mente. I stuck with some safe food: pasta with creme and peas, and then a meat and cheese dish. Allison, on the other hand, really outdid herself this time. The first course was fairly uneventful: Carbonara, as suggested by Tim. Now for the second course: Tripe. For those of you who don't know what tripe is, it's the stomach lining of a farm animal, usually a cow. Please Google pictures to get the full experience. The best part about the tripe was that Allison has just finished telling me how she will pretty much eat anything and that textures don't usually bother her.... then the tripe came and proved her wrong. Needless to say, our dinner was not typical. Allison eventually recovered though, so there's no need to worry!

Safety for me, sketchy for Allison

Early bedtime for us!
